How We Came to Be
In June of 2005, the Miami Valley Baptist Association
in Southwestern Ohio (between Dayton, Ohio and Cincinnati,
Ohio) asked Pastor Dennis Back if he would consider praying
about relocating from Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was the
pastor of NorthStar Church, to Ohio to become the Church
Planter Strategist for the Miami Valley Baptist Association.
After prayer and guidance from mature Christians, Pastor
Dennis and his wife, Peggy, moved to Ohio and began searching
for the place where God wanted a new church in the southern
portion of the Great Miami River valley. They also began
praying and searching for a person to lead a dynamic Worship Team.
With the help of Matt Tucker and his wife Tammy, the young
church began to take form. After two block parties, a LifeGroup
meeting each week, and much prayer, South Valley Community Church
launched on October 1, 2006. For fourteen and a half months, the
small church held worship services in a local sports complex, setting
up and tearing down every Sunday. The several LifeGroups were held
in one families home.
Today the church meets in an old bar, which members turned into a
welcome church building.
